Application documents

We require the following documents for your application. As the application is made online, please scan the original documents and then upload them to the application portal. We accept the following file formats: pdf, doc, jpg, rtf.

  • Certificates and Transcript

At the time of application, transcripts and certificates of a first degree in a subject essential to the MAIB must be submitted (see admission requirements). Evidence of degrees earned in the semester prior to admission to the MAIB may be submitted at a later date at request. Students who are not yet able to present a Bachelor's degree certificate may only apply if they do not lack more than 40 ECTS points to succesfully complete your BA degree at the time of application. ***Important*** In case, you haven't got a full Bachelor degree yet, your university must calculate your current average grade so that we can determine your rank. It is essential that the average grade is shown on the documentation issued by your current university (on your Transcript of Records). Otherwise, your average grade will be automatically evaluated as 5.0, which means that there is practically no chance of a successful application.

  • Proof of relevant experience (optional)

You can upload certificates of professional and practical experience. These should be official certificates or references from your employer. The practical experience must be relevant, i.e. a relation to the study of international relations must be clearly recognizable. If this is not the case, reasons must be given as to why the practical experience is nevertheless relevant to the MAIB. Practical experience can be demonstrated in the context of work experience, internships, or voluntary community involvement at home or abroad. Please make sure that the scope of your work is clear to us (how many hours/wekk, how long).
  • Proof of studying abroad (optional)

Here you can provide evidence of academic achievements that you have completed abroad. "Abroad" is defined as a country other than the one in which the university entrance qualification was acquired.

Important notes

  • The application documents must have been completely uploaded by the application deadline via the application plattform. Applications submitted by fax or email or mail will not be accepted.
  • Degrees and academic achievements obtained abroad must be accompanied by an explanation of the grading system and, if applicable, the credit point system to be recognized in the application process.
  • The application documents can be submitted in German or in English. If you have any documents issued in a different language (for example your Bachelor degree or your Transcript of Records), both the original documents and officially certified translations in German or English must be uploaded in the online application.
  • Applicants who are granted a place in the master program must present their original documents again at enrollment (or officially certified copies).

Legal basis
Admission to the International Relations Master's program is based on the Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the state of Brandenburg).
